Youth United for Climate Crisis Action

YUCCA builds power with young people and community members across so-called New Mexico to organize for climate and environmental justice.

Together, we’re confronting the systems driving the climate crisis and exposing the interconnected harms we’re facing. We challenge neoliberal incremental reforms and collaboration with the same institutions causing us harm – instead, we demand real accountability from the polluters, profiteers, and people in power who continue to line their pockets from harm and extraction.

At the same time, we’re building the world we know is possible by uplifting and supporting the alternatives our communities are already creating: strengthening the systems of mutual aid and collective care that meet our communities’ needs now, and deepening the cross-generational, regional, and movement solidarity needed to sustain long-term power-building and win collective liberation from systems of oppression for all of us – from so-called New Mexico, to Palestine, to the Congo, to Sudan, and beyond.

We engage in grassroots organizing, train and educate the next generation of movement leaders, hold disruptive direct actions, challenge the narratives used to justify extraction and corporate control, and lead bold policy fights to advance meaningful material change. Taken together, this work equips our communities with the tools and analysis necessary to grow our collective power, realize a just transition rooted in Indigenous sovereignty, environmental justice, and community-self-determination, and put an end to the extractive systems harming our communities and the Earth.

YUCCA – a project of Earth Care – is a youth-led movement of BIPOC young people from across so-called New Mexico, organizing on occupied Tiwa, Tewa, and Mescalero Apache lands. Together with our communities, we’re organizing to confront extractive industry, challenge systems of injustice, and build the just and livable future we know is possible through a diversity of tactics – from direct action, to policy advocacy, to grassroots organizing and narrative intervention.
