  • Sobre Nós

Learning Is For Tomorrow, or LIFT, was created by South East Community Organization (SECO) in 1988. In 2007, LIFT became an independent, 501(c)(3) organization.

We are dedicated to providing quality literacy instruction and life-skills training to adult learners and assisting these individuals in becoming self-reliant, life-long learners. We will provide a learning environment which is supportive and incorporates best instructional practices.

LIFT is a comprehensive adult education organization offering classes in literacy, adult basic education (ABE), and job readiness. Computers are available for use by all students through class instruction or drop-in computer lab hours.

LIFT offers specialized classes for learners with suspected or diagnosed learning disabilities, students with low vision or blindness, adults who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing, and learners with a variety of other challenges.

    At LIFT, we strive to

    • create a spirit of community and cooperation.
    • increase learners’ self-confidence and independence.
    • work with learners to identify their goals and create strategies to achieve them.
    • center the curriculum around the needs, interests, and goals of learners.
    • encourage learners and staff to teach and learn from one another.
    • advocate for social change connected to the root causes of illiteracy.
