Founded in 1960 by Mr. Eli Lilly, Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana is a statewide, private, non-profit historic preservation organization. With over 9,000 members it is the largest statewide preservation organization in the country. Historic Landmarks’ has approximately 50 employees that work out of nine different offices around the state and at the Williamson Center in Indianapolis.

The over-arching mission of the organization is to save and protect those places and buildings that are historically and architecturally significant in the state of Indiana. Historic Landmarks executes this mission by providing the public with monetary and legal assistance, restoration advice, easements and covenants for historic properties, the Preservationist magazine, and tours. The focus of the Heritage Tourism program lies in providing educational and entertaining tours of Indianapolis to the general public, groups, and students.
