Kerala Link is a UK Registered Charity (No. 1096687) sending self-funding volunteers to work on short-term placements at two institutions in Kerala, South India. Volunteers might bring with them skills such as art and craft, music, dance, drama, vocational training skills, etc., and will generally work alongside local staff on projects or activities they design, conduct and fund themselves.
Kerala Link can accept female volunteers and volunteering couples or families but no single males. (Women only at the Women's Centre). Volunteers must be able to commit to a minimum of three months' work at the Special School or 6 weeks at the Women's Centre. Placements available throughout most of the year. The volunteer works for four days per week, leaving long weekends free to explore Kerala, making this an ideal way to combine tourism with living and working in this beautiful region of the world.
Kerala Link employs a local representative to conduct an orientation training program and to provide on going in-country support and language tuition.
Kerala Link is a very small charity with no funds of its own and so charges the volunteer a fee of £150 per month to cover costs which include accommodation, airport pick-up, pre-departure training, in-country language training, the services of our local representative and all administration costs.
Flights, visas and insurance are all funded by the volunteer. Kerala Link will endeavour to support the volunteer in raising funds for the trip as appropriate.
Kerala Link is a very small, friendly organisation, founded in 2001 and we encourage contact with previous volunteers. We hope the volunteer will feel they are joining a 'family' and conducting an extremely worthwhile and rewarding job.
