Institute for Peace and Security Studies

The Institute of Peace and Security Studies of Addis Ababa University, established in 2007, is a premier institute of higher education for peace and security studies in Africa. Its mission is to promote peace and security through education, research and outreach projects.

The regional component of IPSS, Africa Peace and Security Programme (APSP), is a joint initiative with the African Union Commission, Peace and Security Department. With the aim of building the capacity of the African Union, Regional Economic Communities and member states, the APSP conducts research, carries out outreach activities and provides training to take up the intellectual challenge of managing peace and security in Africa and assist the AU in its endeavor of African-led solutions to peace and security challenges on the continent.
