Sobre Nós

The Metro Boston Recovery Learning Community (MBRLC) is an alliance of several mental health self-help and advocacy organizations which strive to improve the quality of life of people living with mental illness and is primarily staffed by people in recovery themselves. Our website is www.MetroBostonRLC.org

We provide hope to people diagnosed with mental illness and believe everyone has something to offer our community. We are especially strong at helping people with disabilities go back to work of their own choosing and are exploring ways of helping people start their own businesses. We also fund a warmline where peers can call other peers for support and maintain a national directory at www.warmline.org

The lead partner of the MBRLC is the Boston Resource Center [ www.BostonResourceCenter.org ] a mental health consumer and peer education and recovery community dedicated to improving the lives of people living with psychiatric conditions and their families, friends, and other supporters. We are primarily staffed by people in recovery from mental health and/or addictions themselves. We offer a variety of support and other groups, gym access, computer access and instruction and more.

Our newest center, the Hope Center [ www.HopeRLC.org ] opened in April of 2011 and has rich support group offerings but has a large need for volunteers to help with groups, information teachnology, and computer instruction.

We also fund PERC, Peer Education and Resource Center which focuses on returning people to work. PERC also offers recovery is real and other groups and weekend and night hours and fun activities.

The MBRLC also funds the Cambridge/Somerville Recovery Learning Center (CSRLC) which focuses on education and training on a 1:1 basis including GED tutoring and computer skills. The CSRLC also offers money management group.

North Suffolk Transitional Employment is another partner which provides paid work experiences for consumers.

The Cole Resource Center at McLean Hospital is the first in the nation peer-operated resource center at a hospital and offers all of it's resources to MBRLC community members.

NAMI GB CAN (Consumer Advocacy/Affiliate Network) www.namigbcan.org is a membership organization that does support, education and advocacy. In Our Own Voice trains people to tell their recovery stories in public. NAMI Connection is a 90 minute support group model.

All our partners provide opportunties for socialization and fun!
