Founded in 2008, Gay for Good began as a grassroots movement to foster connection, change perceptions, and serve communities through volunteerism. What started as a single chapter in Los Angeles quickly expanded nationwide, powered by passionate LGBTQ+ volunteers and allies who believe in the power of service to strengthen communities and bridge divides- an idea that feels more vital than ever today.
Service, empowerment and visibility are at the heart of Gay for Good. Through leadership training and peer support, we equip our chapter leaders-including many from historically underrepresented and gender-diverse backgrounds-with the training, skills and tools to lead in their communities and inspire others to take action.
In 2024, Gay for Good organized 470 volunteer events in partnership with 326 nonprofits. Over 5,000 volunteers engaged in 6,378 acts of service-supporting local causes, increasing LGBTQ+ visibility, and strengthening connections in communities across the country.
