Sobre Nós

The UNITE Foundation is dedicated to sharing the fun and learning of summer camp with West Africa's youth.

The mission of the UNITE Foundation is twofold: 1. To meet the resource needs of West African summer camps focused on youth development. 2. To promote mutual understanding between American and West African youth.

The UNITE Foundation was created by a group of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers who served as the 2007 organizers of a unique youth development program called Camp UNITE. Located in Togo, West Africa this annually-run summer camp equips Togolese youth with the “Life Skills” needed to lead healthy, productive lives. While Camp UNITE was only one of many projects these Volunteers implemented over the course of their two years of service, they were amazed at its impact. No other program had so positively transformed lives. Yet despite its success, Camp UNITE suffers from a shortage of funds and each year faces the prospect of being shutdown.

Upon their return home to the United States, these former colleagues came together once again to make sure that never happens. The UNITE Foundation was thus born. The success of Camp UNITE must not only be preserved for the benefit of young Togolese, but camps like it throughout West Africa also deserve support. We hope you will join us in our efforts.
