A Partner in Education

APIE is a non-profit organization registered in the UK and in Rwanda. We believe that the key to development lies in education and empowering the youth of the developing world with skills, knowledge, and passionate interest in the world around them. With our partner schools, we strive to improve education in Rwanda on a foundational level, working with in-country teachers and educators to advance their learning standards and practices to the highest level.

Our primary project, Girubuntu Primary School is an exceptional success story of the compassion and strength of a suffering people. Starting out as a makeshift orphanage during the 1994 genocide, Girubuntu has grown into a primary school, currently accommodating over 300 students. It is unique in its dedication to both maintaining the highest educational standards, as well as guaranteeing a constant 1/3 population of vulnerable, orphaned, or homeless children.
