Community Action is dedicated to promoting economic justice and improving the quality of life for low-income people. Community Action was established in 1965 as a private, non-profit corporation and the federally designated anti-poverty agency for Franklin County in rural western Massachusetts. Community Action provides services in the following areas: housing and homelessness, child and parent development, HIV/AIDS education, youth, information and referral, child care, food and nutrition, energy conservation and fuel assistance, and mediation/alternative dispute resolution. Our vision is to be part of a powerful grassroots movement which will alter social policy and eliminate the need for our agency. In the absence of this achievement, we affirm the importance of supporting and defending a social safety net.
