Great Expectations Program for Foster Youth, Virginia Community College System

    The Great Expectations Program for Foster Youth is an initiative of the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education (a 501(c)(3) organization), which is the philanthropic arm of Virginia's Community Colleges. The initiative supports intensive coaching programs at (currently) 17 of Virginia’s community colleges. Dedicated coaches reach out to current and former foster youth toexplore career possibilities, help them get enrolled, and complete college and financial aid applications. Coaches also work with enrolled students to ensure their success in community collegeand beyond, connecting them as needed with tutors,scholarship opportunities, community resources, emergency/incentive funds, and other support. Students can pursue an associate’s degree, get workforce training, and/or transfer on to a four-year college.
