Sobre Nós

The Akshaya Patra Foundation is an NGO feeding millions of underserved children in India. It strives to eradicate hunger and malnutrition from the country by means of its school lunch programme in Government and Government-aided schools. The Foundation aims to not only fight hunger but also bring children to school through its initiative, based on the philosophy of ‘unlimited food for education’.

In Gujarat, Akshaya Patra has three centralised kitchens, feeding 3,92,255 children in 1,531 schools. The first kitchen was established in Ahmedabad, followed by the ones at Vadodara, Surat and Bhavnagar.

Akshaya Patra’s kitchen in Ahmedabad, launched in June 2007, currently feeds 1,15,578 school children in 522 schools.

The Vadodara kitchen, operational since November 2009, currently reaches out to 1,07,838 children in 616 schools.

The Surat kitchen, meanwhile, currently feeds 1,43,293 children in 337 schools. It was set up in June 2012.

The kitchen in Bhavnagar is established in June 2017, currently it reaches out to 25,546 children in 56 schools.

The cost of feeding a child for a whole year, thanks to Government subsidy and provision of food grains, is merely Rs 950. Donate now to support children’s education!
