Work to help Miami Dade College promote sustainability and Earth literacy with students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community. The AmeriCorps VISTA will work on coordinating projects that incorporate sustainability and environmental preservation into service-learning at various environmental sites and community gardens. Duties include recruitment of students for projects, assisting faculty to incorporate environmentally related service-learning into their curriculum, assisting with EEI forums/ activities, and promoting student-led environmental activism. AmeriCorps VISTAs receive a living allowance of about $820/month, basic health insurance, and an end of service education award of $4,725 or end of service monetary sum of $1,200.
