First Congregational Church of St. Louis - UCC

Sobre Nós

We are a socially and theologically progressive congregation, located in Clayton, Missouri, adjacent to Washington University. We were first founded as an abolitionist church in 1852. Back then, we were known as a stop on the Underground Railroad, where escaped slaves would find shelter and guidance on their journey to freedom. In 2004, we voted to become an Open and Affirming congregation, welcoming LGBTQIA members. And even more recently, in the aftermath of the events in Ferguson, we have been working with other faith communities in the St. Louis region to promote healing and social justice. We continue to work towards fulfilling our vision, which is to “be a beacon of faith, compassion, and justice within St. Louis, the wider faith community, and beyond.” We believe that all are welcome in our church, and we strive to extend that welcome to people from diverse backgrounds. We strive for unity, while at the same time celebrating diversity, and we welcome all applicants who share this vision.
