State University of New York at Buffalo, Community for Global Health Equity
Sobre Nós
The University at Buffalo SUNY has invested considerable
resources to further research, education, and engagement in global health
equity (http://www.buffalo.edu/ubreporter/communities-of-excellence.html).
The Community for Global Health Equity (CGHE) is one of three newly named
Communities of Excellence formed to take on the grand social challenges of the
21st century. CGHE will organize novel inter- disciplinary teams of
researchers, faculty, students, and national and international partners to
tackle inequities in global health through community-based and community-led
efforts. Health science professionals and Architecture, Planning, Engineering,
and other cross-disciplinary fields (APEX) will work together to understand
barriers to global health equity and to develop, test, and refine solutions in
Asia, sub- Saharan Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as
among the refugee population in Western New York. Initial focus areas include: child survival, growth, and development; non-communicable diseases and
disabilities; infectious diseases; and refugee health.
