Medical Development for Israel, Inc., (MDI) was founded in 1983 and originally called MEREPHDI in the United States and Canada. The organization’s objectives are to raise funds for and promote the activities of Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel. Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel, also known affectionately as Schneider Children’s, is the only comprehensive, highly specialized care hospital of its kind in the country and indeed, in the entire Middle East, dedicated exclusively to the well-being of all children. Offering the full range of pediatric specialties, Schneider Children’s also receives patients from the Palestinian Authority and Jordan, and from as far away as Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe, thus fulfilling its mandate to serve as a “bridge to peace” in the region. Since its establishment in 1992, Schneider Children’s has become recognized for its medical and academic excellence, and today it is considered one of the leading pediatric care centers in the world.
