  • Missão

Founded by artist Lauren Halsey in 2020, Summaeverythang Community Center (SCC) is dedicated to the advancement and transcendence of Black and Brown youth in South Central Los Angeles artistically, intellectually, and economically. SCC provides high-quality, engaging opportunities for personal growth and community connection through free after-school, weekend, and summer youth programs centered around our three main pillars: arts, education, and wellness. At SCC, we believe in the power of connection, collaboration, and continuous growth to create positive change within our community.

    Sobre Nós

In a pioneering move that merges the worlds of art, community, and social enterprise, Summaeverythang Community Center (SCC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to social transformation in South Central Los Angeles. SCC is committed to reshaping the community through a multifaceted approach that centers around three main pillars: arts, education, and wellness.

SCC offers free after-school, weekend, and summer programs to local youth that center the experiences of Black and Brown families. The Center provides high-quality mentorship, creative training, and community-building opportunities that strengthen cultural pride and self-determination. SCC nurtures emerging artists, fosters intergenerational exchange, and provides accessible spaces for learning and imagination. Each pillar and each program reflect the belief that access to creativity and education is a fundamental right and a tool for transformation, helping residents build lasting networks of care, knowledge, and opportunity.

“All of the resources, workshops, and inroads to access that Summaeverythang offers come out of the neighborhood. There is brilliant talent right here to build out education, SAT prep, ACT prep, music, art, yoga, and more. It is all happening in South Central at a high level—but the community doesn’t know it exists. Summaeverythang’s vision is to bring it together at SCC with local practitioners. We want to build kids’ self-esteem and have them have a sense of pride in their neighborhood. Give them the opportunity to learn from local figures who are excellent in their fields. There is so much talent that came out of this community. Now they can give back.” -- founder Lauren Halsey

    PROGRAMS

Since 2022, SCC has operated nomadically, organizing arts, education, and wellness initiatives for South Central-area middle school children. In partnership with Green Meadows Recreation Center, SCC hosted a Back-to-School Wellness Day offering mindfulness sessions, fitness activities, and school supplies to local students. SCC also organized a field trip to the Hammer Museum’s K.A.M.P. program for Bret Harte Middle School students, many of whom experienced a museum for the first time. In collaboration with the Frieze LA art fair, in February 2025 SCC provided high school students with guided art fair tours and artist meetups, offering early exposure to creative careers. SCC launched a 12-week summertime fellowship empowering young artists with mentorship, business training, and funding to produce community-centered projects showcased publicly in July 2025.
