Located one mile west of downtown Lexington, Kentucky, Manchester Center's mission is, "to enrich the lives in our neighborhood through educational, recreational, and social activities." Originally a library in 1940, Manchester Center became an official community center in January 1925 to serve a diverse, poor population isolated from the rest of Lexington. The current median income of these families is $15,000 per year, more than $1,000 below Federal poverty guidelines for a family of three. We offer preschool, after school and summer youth programs, social services and conduct various community events.
