Journey to ExSCellence was established in April 2023 under the leadership of co-founders Tesha and John Samuels. Tesha being a Sickle Cell Warrior, and John being her caregiver throughout their dating and married life, brought their lived experience and passion to support others that face similar challenges, this organization took shape. Our goal is for every Sickle Cell Warrior to navigate the transition from pediatric care to comprehensive adult care with care and confidence. We are committed to ensuring that adult warriors receive the medical, social, financial, and professional services needed to alleviate external stressors, thereby improving their quality of life and instilling hope for a brighter future . Battle Buddy Bags are a direct resource initiative to provide a prefilled hospital or clinic bag to warriors and caregivers. (pictured). Our Professional Development and Financial Planning & Wellness programs aim to provide strategies to financially thrive and not just survive.
