    Sobre Nós

GSP has fostered a community of college bound scholars focused on developing their academic gifts in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The program strives to increase the success rate of youth of African descent in STEM course work and to increase the number of scholars choosing STEM career paths.

GSP supports students in the 3rd through 12th grades from the San Francisco Bay Area, currently representing 26 cities and more than 90 public and private schools. Our 186 current scholars are 49% female, and 50% low to moderate income, which allows GSP to address ethnic, gender and economic diversity in STEM.

Unique features of the Greene Scholars Program include: long-term commitment to the success of under-represented students and their families, required parent engagement, active engagement with the local community, sustained STEM enrichment, long-term corporate partnerships, commitment to assessment, and sense of community for the families of Black children.

    The GSP core programs are:

    • Monthly STEM workshops for five grade level classrooms including hands on projects and enrichment in math and computer programming
    • Science Fair
    • Career Day
    • Summer Science Institutes (weeklong summer camps) in partnership with local corporations
    • Engineering Competition
    • Black History Bowl
    • College Preparation Curriculum
    • Parent Enrichment Programming
    • National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Junior Pre-College Initiative
    • Scholarships for graduating seniors
