ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Cofradía’s Bilingual School serves the town of Cofradía by providing high-quality, affordable bilingual education, and a level of community involvement that is all but absent from local public schools. Thanks to a devoted team of internationally-recruited volunteers and locally recruited Honduran teachers, students at the Cofradía’s Bilingual School receive more in-depth, expert instruction in all subject areas than would otherwise be available. The school is founded on the principle that education empowers students to lead lives of their own creation. Students who attend CBS become responsible, motivated, and passionate people ready to build a brighter future for themselves, their community and their country.

TEACHING POSITIONS

All volunteer-taught classes are conducted in English, so Spanish-language skills are not required. Similarly, prior teaching experience is not required to work at CBS. While experience in education is undoubtedly beneficial, we value more highly motivated, passionate, and hard-working people. We are currently recruiting English teachers for Kinder (ages 4-5) through 11th Grade (ages 16-17) for the upcoming school year starting in August 2017. The CBS school year goes from mid August 2017 to June 2018. English teachers may also teach Math, Science, and Physical Education (all taught in English). Our teachers work Monday-Friday from 7:00am-2:10pm.

EXPENSES

There is no required fee or donation for long-term volunteers at Cofradía’s Bilingual School- it is completely free. Volunteer accommodation is provided free of charge in a shared room in one of our volunteer houses, and breakfast and lunch are provided on school days. You will need to pay for your flight to and from San Pedro Sula airport and any travel insurance you need.  You will also need enough money to cover additional living and travel expenses during your time in Cofradía. Most volunteers spend approximately $100 per month while they are in Cofradía, plus any traveling that they do on weekends and holidays.
