Solar Living Institute

Since 1997, the Solar Living Institute has served as a beacon of what is possible in this world. We offer profound and innovative tours, training's, overnight stays and events centered around equipping people with the ideas and skills to live in harmony with mother nature. Within easy reach of the San Francisco Bay Area, we are the nation's premier learning destination for all things sustainable.

Our mission is to promote sustainable living through inspirational environmental education. We believe humans are resilient and that our ability to be resilient to changes in our environment can best be nurtured by having deep connection to nature itself. Our institute provides a space for all of us to be in awe of nature, study sustainability solutions to the world's most pressing problems, and take action. The Institute’s programs include educational sustainable living workshops; a year-round internship program; a variety of educational renewable energy and sustainable living projects throughout the Solar Living Center including an organic farm and a biodiesel fueling station; and both free and professional tours of the Solar Living Center.

Our campus, the Solar Living Center, encompasses 12 acres of ponds, impressive trees, organic gardens, extraordinary views, numerous demonstrations in sustainable living, and pristine habitat for the area’s flora and fauna that is visited by over 250,000 people annually.  The Center is also home to the Real Goods Eco-Store and Emerald Pharms Medical Cannabis Resource Center.  A visit to our unique campus leaves visitors full of wonder as they uncover the knowledge and skills as to how to live an earth-centered life.  It is our hope that with each visit they will take a piece of us with them and that what you carry ripples out into the world.
