The Strings Attached project introduces St. Louis, MO youth to music education, music mentoring, guitar studies, music notation reading skills and music history. The project creates music education opportunities to under served youth ages 5-17 within the context of American roots music ( blues, jazz, country/western, bluegrass, Americana folk and traditional.)

The Strings Attached project is an acoustic guitar study program where youth are taught note reading skills in individual weekly lessons and small group ensemble. The project serves under served neighborhoods in St. Louis city and St. Louis county. It is currently seeking additional funding for its project At Community Arts and Movement Project (C.A.M.P.) on Cherokee St. in south St. Louis.
Youth ages 5-17 are introduced to various American roots music through song practice and oral history. American roots music is music that developed in the United States and includes styles such as bluegrass, jazz, blues, country/western and traditional folk. An emphasis is placed on song and artists of the St. Louis region including Chuck Berry, Scott Joplin, and John Hartford.
Strings Attached provides loaner guitars to youth who lack instruments to practice with at home. It also awards guitars to youth who attend weekly lessons with consistency, have good practice skills and demonstrate a willingness to give back to the community through performance opportunities provided by the project.
