There are approximately 2 million children in this country who have a parent in prison. Through leadership training, Christian teaching, life and business skills education and mentoring, kidz2leaders, inc. aims at breaking the cycle of family incarceration for children who live in the metro-Atlanta area.
The entry-point into these children's lives is a one-week summer camp, Camp Hope, and children attend for the first time as a rising fourth or fifth grader. The purpose of Camp Hope is to develop and foster trusting Christian relationships with children of inmates by engaging them in a week of fun, worship and safe environment. Once children attend camp, kidz2leaders works with them throughout the year through annual programming such as field trips, retreats, mentoring, an annual Christmas party, and a summer internship program.
In its first year, Camp Hope had 13 campers. kidz2leaders has served more than 500 youth since then.
The ministry is housed on the campus of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta, GA but is a seperate 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.
