As an animal rescue, foster, adoption group, we are as concerned with the education of the Public as we are with the care of the animals, since we feel that many of the problems concerning today's animals stem from a lack of public awareness. We are an outreach group and information clearinghouse, providing a source of advice, resources and a large network of similarly-minded individuals and groups. Right now we are concerned with educating the public on holistic vet care, quality food as well as on how to include a Pet Trust in their Will and Advance Directives.

As animal activists, we are also strong on lobbying (i.e. for the welfare of the carriage horses in NYC, for the decrease of no-pet buildings, for humane treatment of downed animals, etc). On our blog we encourage many like-minded groups to post their concerns and activities. We offer a wide-range of services and thus we are in constant need of donations, despite the failing economy. It's all about the animals, and that is our main objective. But we do feel that an educated, informed public is the first step.

We are a small organization, recently-formed as an official non-profit group. It is pretty much ME with the help of a few others, but we are building a better Board & volunteer base now. The description is pretty much in my mission statement above.
