Sobre Nós

The National Coalition of Abortion Providers is a pro-choice organization that represents the political, business and networking interests of over 100 independent abortion providers throughout the Unites States. NCAP was formed in July, 1990 by several abortion providers who felt they needed a lobbyist in Washington, DC, who would, for the first time, be able to effectively communicate the need to preserve access to abortion and be familiar with the particular needs of independent abortion providers. NCAP has succeeded in getting several federal laws passed including the Federal Access to Clinic Entrances Act, which made it a federal crime to block the entrance of a medical facility and, in turn, led to a marked decrease in clinic violence since it’s passage. As well as being a lobbying organization, NCAP is also a trade association that is dedicated to finding and negotiating business deals for its members. NCAP's sister national organization, the Abortion Conversation Project, was launched in 2002 and works to eliminate stigma attached to abortion through the development of various media by abortion providers and their allies while creating opportunities for professional and public forums.
