Our mission is to provide widely accessible and affordable conflict resolution services and education that help all community members manage conflict and have difficult conversations in a meaningful, proactive way.
The Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center (MCRC) is a nonprofit organization that supports people across Howard County in resolving conflicts through communication, respect, and collaboration. We believe that strong communities grow when people have the skills and support to handle disagreements in constructive and inclusive ways.
MCRC provides free mediation, youth restorative programs, and low cost conflict resolution education. We train community members to serve as volunteer mediators and facilitators, building a team that reflects the diversity and experiences of our county. Our volunteers help neighbors, families, students, and organizations find common ground and reach agreements that work for everyone involved.
Our approach keeps decision-making in the hands of the community. We offer flexible scheduling, accessible locations, and early opportunities for dialogue to prevent conflict from escalating. By providing alternatives to court, MCRC strengthens connections, encourages accountability, and supports collaborative problem-solving.
