Connecting Christian Discipleship and Social Justice

The Cornelius Corps educates and equips local churches to engage in racial justice and reconciliation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our name, The Cornelius Corps, is inspired by the Biblical story of Cornelius and Peter in the book of Acts (10:1 - 11:18). Through visions given by God, these two men were able to transcend boundaries of race, culture, and privilege by the power of the Holy Spirit. Our vision is to empower followers of Christ, in churches, across racial and denominational lines to recommit to the work of racial justice and reconciliation today. The Cornelius Corps was founded in, 2001, by the Reverend Dr. Jim Melson, an ordained minister in The United Methodist Church. Our ministry is based at New Community Church in the historic Shaw neighborhood of Washington, DC.
