Sobre Nós

Blue Nile Children’s Organization (BNCO) was founded in 2001 to provide humanitarian support to orphaned children living on the streets of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In 2005, BNCO was certified as an international NGO and in 2008 the Ethiopian government donated land to build a community health clinic in Kebele 15/16, one of the poorest areas of Addis Ababa. The Richard Oslund Memorial Clinic officially opened in 2010. The clinic now serves over 7,000 patients a year, offers community health education and outreach, and hosts on-site programs for orphans and other vulnerable children.

Our mission is to build a promising future for vulnerable children in one of the most impoverished neighborhoods of Addis Ababa and to address the critical public health needs of this neighborhood and surrounding communities.

Our Child Sponsorship Program currently supports 58 vulnerable children and their foster families through monthly sponsorships that provide food, shelter, clothing, and educational opportunities all the way through university or technical college.

Our Richard Oslund Medical Clinic provides medical treatment, prenatal care, immunizations, family planning, and health education. In 2015, the clinic provided 1,120 vaccinations, 885 family planning visits and HIV counseling sessions, 5,537 laboratory services, 220 antenatal care visits, supplementary food support for 47 patients found to be malnourished, and one emergency delivery.
