DCPP's mission is to disseminate, enrich and strengthen the art of classical ballet. It aims to educate students in its traditions and support them as they innovate within the field. DCPP provides scholarships for students of ballet, produces student productions, hires high caliber faculty and choreographers (also contributing to their professional growth), and, since 2010, runs an international ballet competition, Boston International Ballet Competition, which provides a platform for students from around the world to be seen by the top names in the professional world and to grow in their artistry and maturity.
