The CPE Program at Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center trains individuals from diverse religious and spiritual backgrounds in the practice of spiritual health ministry.
CPE training takes place at Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma hospital / teaching hospital in downtown Toledo, Ohio. The location provides students with significant opportunities to learn through direct care interactions with patients, families, and hospital staff and through collaboration with a team of staff chaplains and Mission leadership.
The Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program at Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center has been offering CPE training as an accredited program of ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care and Education since 2005. The program offers full and part-time CPE internships, a yearlong CPE residency, and certified educator training.
Mercy Health is a Catholic health care ministry whose missions is to extend the compassionate ministry of Jesus by improving the health and well-being of our communities and bring good help to those in need, especially the poor, dying, and underserved.
While Mercy Health is a Catholic health care ministry, the CPE program focuses on spiritual care training for a pluralistic context and welcomes students of diverse religious and spiritual backgrounds to apply.
