YMCA READS! is a new reading tutoring program to Clay county’s elementary schools that matches volunteers to work either in small groups or one-on-on with Kindergarten to 3rd grade students. The Y READS! Program seeks to close the gap in students’ reading performance and the State of Florida’s reading performance expectations. It’s is an excellent volunteer opportunity because it allows the volunteer to have a positive involvement in a child’s life, have a practical and enriching experience working with at risk children, and will provide the volunteer with an educator experience in a diverse and high need community.
