Bacon's Castle, A Preservation Virginia property, is located in Surry County, Virginia south of the James River from Jamestown and Williamsburg and west of Smithfield, Virginia. The main house and english formal gardens of Bacon's Castle were built in 1665 by Arthur Allen. This 9,000 square foot estate accompanied by smokehouse, slave quarters, barns, and other structures represent the variety of histories of the Commonwealth including European, African, and Native American stories.
