55,000 Degrees is Louisville's education commitment to adding 55,000 new associate and bachelor's degrees to the area by the year 2020. This would mean that 50% of the working-age population would hold a college degree.
55,000 Degrees, along with the Louisville Urban League, Degrees at Work, and Louisville Metro Government, has benefitted from the service of four AmeriCorps*VISTAs since the fall of 2012. 55K has the fortunate opportunity to expand the work of increasing educational attainment of these VISTAs through adding six new positions from three new partners: Jefferson Community and Technical College, Jefferson County Public Schools, and the Louisville Free Public Library.
