A Home Away from Homelessness (Home Away or HA) was founded in 1994 in partnership with the National Park Service as a respite for homeless children living in shelters. Each year, Home Away serves more than 250 homeless and formerly homeless children and their families in Marin, San Francisco, and Oakland.
We focus on addressing the needs of the whole child through three programs: The Beach House, The School House, and The Summer Program. We strive not only to improve the academic performance of these individuals, but also to immerse them in a structured, adventurous, supportive community that fosters a healthy mind, healthy body, healthy spirit, and healthy community.
