SOL-center

The “SOL” center was established in 2006 as a nonprofit and nongovernmental organization whose main goal was to provide assistance with education and training to people in need, and also to foster cooperation and solidarity between various communities. The main activities of the center are focused in building capacities such as Vocational Training Courses, Educative Courses and Psychosocial Counseling, Vocational guidance, activities for establishment and support for rehabilitation services and employment opportunities for youth and adults. From the beginning the center has cooperated with various actors ranging from private companies to various non for profit organizations which are active in the region such as GIZ, CSDC, Mjaft! Movement, Aid for children, Tabita, Dorcas, RDA, as well as state and local government institutions such as the Korca Municipality, various Communes, the local Employment Office in Korca, the Education Directorate and others. Every year the center offers vocational educative and academic training to about 200 people. The center has been able to successfully operate thanks to the close and warm relationships it has established with the local communities. It is located in area of Korca where a population with a middle and low economical level lives. The center has quickly grown from its establishment and it has established its branches in other regions such as Tirana and Elbasan The meaning of SOL comes from two Phrases in English language Skills Of Life Stones Of Life ( Big stones of the life education, Love and respect to each other,employable skills) Several times in the past SOL, with the cooperation of other partners has undertaken activities targeting young people in their communities, and aiming to provide them with tools to contribute them to society. Now-days, SOL is encouraging active participation at the local level, while teaching students the skills needed to have a positive impact on their communities
