Fondo Semillas

Fondo Semillas is a feminist fund that mobilizes resources and accompanies organizations and women’s groups in Mexico to achieve gender equality. Founded in Mexico City in 1990, Fondo Semillas was established to support grassroots feminist organizations in Mexico through grantmaking, capacity building, and facilitating strategic alliances. Since its beginning, Fondo Semillas has strongly believed that the leadership of grassroots women and girls is essential to achieving lasting social change, as they are the experts on the needs and priorities in their respective contexts. Over the last 28 years, the fund has supported 680,000 women whose work has reached 2.5 million women, girls, boys and men. Fondo Semillas also plays an active role in the international women’s funding movement and has significantly contributed to the promotion of feminist philanthropy in Mexico and beyond.
