The WSSCC was formed in 2021 by educators from Delta County, Gunnison County, Montrose County, and Ridgway school districts who see the need for collaboration to better serve rural students with high quality career preparation both in our schools and through work based learning. By partnering with Colorado Mesa University - Montrose, the Technical College of the Rockies, and Western Colorado University they hope to expand access to career pathways throughout the region.
Our Vision:
To grow skills and empower students by offering classes, certification opportunities, training, and work-based learning that exposes students to new ideas and industry best practices, while assisting them in making informed decisions about their futures.
To create equitable access by offering scholarships, stipends, travel assistance, and other support programs that ensure all students have access to the resources they need to succeed.
To expand pathways by conducting labor market research and partnering with higher education, industry experts, and educators to develop a unified approach to career programming that prepares students for careers in emerging fields.
To strengthen communities and support local industry by creating partnerships with local organizations and businesses to provide students with industry-specific work-based learning opportunities and career pathways to develop a home-grown workforce that meets demands of the local job market.
