    The Winchester Multicultural Network seeks to promote the recognition, understanding, and appreciation of diversity, advocate for each and every person’s civil rights, and confront intolerance. We carry out this mission by:

    • Responding to incidents of bias and discrimination
    • Working with the public schools through the School Impact Committee
    • Planning programs and events which include speakers, films, and forums
    • Publishing our newsletter The Journey
    • Celebrating holidays such as Rev. Dr.Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and Black History Month
    • Hosting our annual Community Multicultural Workshop
    • Facilitating discussion groups where people can share perspectives and world views
    • Providing opportunities for international residents and newcomers to meet and enjoy informal conversation
    • Speaking to groups such as Rotary; library volunteers, the board of A Better Chance, etc., and other community groups
    • Writing letters to the editor and guest columns in our local newspapers
    • By bringing a multicultural perspective to individual conversations and meetings in our faith communities, schools, and community organizations
    • Meeting with town officials and members of the town’s volunteer boards
    • Holding information sessions to inform the community about our mission and activities
    • Serving as a resource for other town organizations
    • Representing the Network at town and regional committees and organizations such as the Winchester Reads Committee, the Massachusetts Human Rights Commission meetings, etc.
