Grassroots Leadership Initiative

The Grassroots Leadership Initiative (GLI) is a free, year-long leadership development program provided to nurture and support aspiring grassroots leaders in Sarasota and Manatee Counties to work for postiive social change. The components of the program include monthly leadership workshops facilitated by a diverse array of skilled consultants; monthly networking opportunities with community leaders from sectors such as media and government; pairing with a mentor who is an established, successful leader in the community; and a community project designed and carried out by each participant. GLI is supported by numerous institutions, organizations, businesses and individuals in Sarasota and Manatee Counties, including: SCOPE, United Way of Sarasota, the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, the University of South Florida, and the Sarasota Herald Tribune Media Group.
