  • Missão

NAMI DC serves people with mental illness and their families, providing support, education, and advocacy in the District of Columbia. We serve the needs of a diverse community with free programs that are based on mutual support and respect and on evidence-based practices.

    Sobre Nós

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, operating since 1981 in the District of Columbia as an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Our services to individuals are free. We operate a helpline, offer support groups twice a week, present education sessions in the community, host educational and supportive webinars, participate in the training of police officers to help prepare them for encounters involving mental illness, and provide classes for families and caretakers. We also advocate for services and supports before the city government and Congress. Currently we are an all-volunteer organization seeking volunteers skilled in administration, accounting, and fundraising. Although our services are directed toward residents of DC, we also serve many families across the country whose loved ones may reside here.
