The Teen and Young Parent Program of Knox County

Sobre Nós

The mission of The Teen and Young Parent Program (TYPP) is to support young parents and their children through the involvement of caring, trained volunteer mentors and parenting education home visits.

Our program serves young families and first time families in Knox County through pregnancy and until the child turns age five. Certified parent educators deliver the Parents as Teachers (PAT) Born to Learn curriculum through home visits to more than eighty families each year. Home visits center around developmentally appropriate play and activities for the child and conversations about parenting, home life, and the child’s language, motor, and behavioral development. PAT supports early language development, improved school readiness, and healthy parent – child relationships.

To further support families, our organization provides group activites including weekly playgroups, monthly familys swims and scrapbooking, and a playgroup for dads and their children.

We are committed to building a strong, nurturing community for young parents and their children.
