    Sobre Nós

Seeds for a Future operates in rural Guatemala, working to eliminate chronic malnutrition, poverty, and preventable disease, starting at the household level. We empower families with the practical skills and resources needed to sustainably grow their own nutritious food, reduce disease and illnesses, and create new income opportunities.

Our proven 12-month training program combines food security, maternal and child health, clean water access, and micro-business development. Delivered by local field team members through weekly, hands-on visits, it empowers families to live healthier lives with greater self-reliance.

Through Seeds for a Future, families don’t just eat better, they get sick less, grow stronger, and build better futures.

The Seeds for a Future Program Overview:

    Holistic, family-centered approach

We work directly with families, especially mothers of young children, to improve nutrition, heath, income, and long-term well-being.

Focused on the First 1,000 Days

Special attention is given to maternal and infant health during the critical First 1,000 Days, when nutrition has the greatest lifelong impact.

    Locally led, culturally grounded

Our program is delivered by Guatemalan field team members who understand the language, context, and values of the communities they serve.

Hands-on and high-touch - Families receive weekly mentoring in home gardening, small animal care, nutrition, health practices, and income creation.

    Validated by independent research

A 2017 randomized controlled trial conducted by INCAP showed a 90% reduction in childhood anemia among Seeds families.

    Scalable, adaptable, and efficient

Our model is designed to work in rural communities anywhere, with low cost, low tech, and high trust.

    We share what works

Through our Food Security Academy, we help other organizations and communities apply Seeds’ successful approach in their own communities.

Since 2009, Seeds has reached over 5,400 families across 21 communities in 8 Guatemalan states, benefiting more than 32,000 people. We're committed to building healthier families and communities now and for future generations.
