St. Sospeter Academy

Muhuru Bay is a rural village in Western Kenya. Located along the shores of Lake Victoria, Muhuru yields a 38% HIV/AIDS rate and girls’ education has traditionally been undervalued leading to many early marriages.

St. Sospeter is a small private school that is constantly struggling to stay afloat. Many of the students are too poor to even afford the nominal school fees used to pay the teachers and buy school materials. It was founded in 2000 by Kennedy Biginga who works tirelessly to ensure that orphans and disadvantaged children canenjoy the right to an education. The school currently has 220 pupils from nursery up through Class 8.
