ICA Food Shelf

ICA Food Shelf, established on December 15, 1971, is a food shelf serving the 7 communities from Hopkins to Shorewood and partnering with 34 local congregations and hundreds of local businesses, schools and civic organizations to meet the needs within our community. Our clients are your neighbors, struggling to make ends meet. Most of our clients work, but do not make enough to cover the basic needs of their families. Some are able to achieve financial stability quickly, while others require ongoing assistance and support.

Food Distribution Program - Over 830 households per month schedule an appointment to receive groceries from ICA each month. Clients who visit without an appointment will receive a supplemental bag of food, bread, and milk and a future appointment will be set up.

Emergency Financial Assistance - Case managers partner with families and individuals to access resources, through community agencies such as Hennepin County and CAPSH or directly through ICA funds, with the goal of stabilizing families in the community. Financial assistance is available through homelessness prevention funds for rent, mortgage and utilities.

Employment Services - ICA has provided job search services in the local community since summer 2011. Since that time, over 100 clients have found a job with our support and our Job Coach has helped hundreds with resumes, interview skills, and job search techniques.
