Sobre Nós

The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is a private non-profit organization founded in 1976, serving survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Lackawanna and Susquehanna Counties in northeastern Pennsylvania. WRC’s mission is to provide programs and services that support and uphold the principle that women have the right to choose and maintain a life free from oppression and violence. WRC supports a feminist philosophy which places a high value on the individuality and equality of women and all persons, and is committed to enhancing the dignity, self-worth and self-confidence of women.

The Women’s Resource Center started out as an all-volunteer organization in 1976 and has grown to one that employs approximately thirty people in two counties. A volunteer Association of twenty-five members coordinates fundraising events and annual fund drive to support the WRC. The governance of the organization is also provided by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of twenty-five professionals and community members from both counties.
