Sobre Nós

The Abdorrahman Boroumand Center (ABC) is committed to promoting universally‑recognized human rights norms and democracy in Iran, and to taking steps to alleviate human suffering through public recognition and justice. Taking as a starting point the fundamental equality of all human beings and the belief that unremedied human rights violations are a major obstacle to the establishment of the rule of law, ABC is committed to the right of all victims of human rights abuses to justice and public recognition. It seeks to ensure that human rights in Iran are protected without discrimination, be it on the basis of one's gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or national origin. Established in 2001, ABC believes that strengthening democratic culture and promoting human rights awareness through education are the prerequisites for a long-lasting democracy in Iran. Through its programs of research, documentation, publications, and outreach, ABC aims to draw attention to the serious human rights violations, including breaches of due process of law and frequent use and arbitrary application of the death penalty in Iran; to stimulate awareness and discussion of these issues amongst Iran’s citizens; and to promote an active approach to ending these human rights violations, while restoring the dignity of the countless men and women who have fallen victim to them.
