Sobre Nós

Lighthouse Hospice provides care and supportive services to terminally ill patients and their families. Our volunteers participate as part of our interdisciplinary team of nurses, social workers, chaplains, CNAs, and medical professionals to provide physical, social, spiritual, and emotional care during the last stages of illness, the dying process, and bereavement.

All of our volunteers participate in a comprehensive training program, and we offer optional continuing education workshops. Because of the sensitive nature of hospice, we also recommend that potential volunteers wait one year after their own loss before volunteering.

Upon completing volunteer training, you decide the amount of time you have available to volunteer, whether daily, weekly, or monthly. The time you contribute, whether four hours a day or one hour a month, is valuable to the hospice program and much appreciated by the families.

The benefits of volunteering are numerous: real world experience, a raised awareness of compassionate interactions with others, knowledge of the hospice industry, valuable experience for resume and graduate school applications, and the clear affirmation gained through making a difference in the community. By giving of yourself and your time, you can have a rewarding experience and make a difference in someone's life.

Lighthouse Hospice does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, creed, age, diagnosis, sexual orientation, veteran's status, place of residence, the ability to pay for services rendered, or disability in admission, treatment, or participation in its programs, services, and activities, or in employment. We believe in affirming the dignity of every person's life.

Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Eddie Gonzalez, at the Lighthouse Hospice Coastal Bend office: 361-401-1268.
