The International Rescue Committee in Los Angeles

  • Sobre Nós

The International Rescue Committee is a leading non-sectarian non-profit organization providing well-planned global emergency relief, protection, rehabilitation assistance, resettlement services and advocacy for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. IRC staff and volunteers provide shelter, medical and public health assistance, education, training and income-generating programs for refugees in nearly 30 countries. We also help refugees resettle in the United States.

The IRC supports refugees in Los Angeles by providing immediate aid upon arrival to the U.S., including food and shelter. Through a network of staff and volunteers we provide access to the tools of self-reliance: housing, job placement and employment skills, clothing, medical attention, education, English-language classes and community orientation. In addition to integrating refugees into the U.S., the IRC provides immigration services to assist refugees and asylees on their path to becoming permanent residents or U.S. citizens. Our goal is to help refugees reestablish social stability and gain the skills they need to secure stable employment.

The IRC relies on the energy and talent of volunteers to assist in all aspects of refugee resettlement in the greater Los Angeles area. Volunteers are essential to the work that is done in and out of the office, and they come to the IRC with a variety of skills and strong interest in refugee issues both globally and domestically.
