The Life Skills Center, founded in 1974, enables adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities to live as independently and safely as possible. It operates a day program in the Adams Morgan/Mt. Pleasant neighborhood of Washington, DC, where participants learn basic skills such as writing their own names, crossing the street safely, calling 911, personal hygiene, social skills, and pre-vocational and basic academic skills. The Center is the only program in the city serving Latino adults with intellectual disabilities.
